Ron Paul campaign implies foul play in Romney victory in Maine

‘In the wake of would-be Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s victory in Saturday’s Maine caucuses, the Ron Paul campaign is raising implications of foul play.

According to the official tally, with 84% of the votes counted, Romney took 39% of that vote, defeating Paul by a narrow margin of 194 votes. In an email sent to supporters late on Saturday, however, Paul campaign manager John Tate noted that the media had called the polling for Romney even before the votes had been fully counted

Tate went on to charge that “in Washington County – where Ron Paul was incredibly strong – the caucus was delayed until next week just so the votes wouldn’t be reported by the national media today. Of course, their excuse for the delay was ‘snow.’ That’s right. A prediction of 3-4 inches – that turned into nothing more than a dusting – was enough for a local GOP official to postpone the caucuses just so the results wouldn’t be reported tonight.”’

Ron Paul Aims to Keep Screwing With Romney

‘Can we always call him “feisty Ron Paul” the way Steve Peoples of the Associated Press does? In an AP article republished by MSNBC, Paul reflects on his chances in Maine, which he believes are good. Romney can probably stand to lose another one of these caucuses, right? And a Paul win would bring his name back into the discussion, as we cycle between the final four unelectable Republican presidential candidates.

Among both white evangelicals and Protestant voters, Romney ran about even with Newt Gingrich. Romney’s performance among Florida evangelicals represents an improvement over his showing in Iowa (where he lost to Rick Santorum among evangelicals) and in South Carolina (where evangelicals supported Gingrich). Romney’s share of the Florida evangelical vote was roughly comparable to the share of the evangelical vote he received in New Hampshire (36% of evangelicals in Florida voted for him, as did 31% of evangelicals in New Hampshire)’

Snoop Dogg endorses Ron Paul, for Shizzle?

“The rapper and marijuana enthusiast appeared to grant his endorsement to GOP candidate Paul on his Facebook page late Monday, posting a picture of Paul with the headline “Smoke Weed Everyday.” Snoop Dogg — born Calvin Broadus — included the message “Because I said so” with his post.

Broadus — whose most recent marijuana-related arrest occurred earlier this month, at the Texas border town of Sierra Blanca — is presumably drawn to Paul due to the libertarian-leaning candidate’s stance on drugs. Paul, an advocate of smaller federal government, was a co-sponsor of the States’ Rights to Medical Marijuana Act, and supports the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2008.”
